This new website, promoted by the Luzaide/Valcarlos Village Council, gives shape to the “PROJECT FOR A VIRTUAL TOUR OF THE EXHIBITION CENTRE OF THE BATTLE OF RONCEVAUX PASS/ORREAGAKO GATAZKA: 778 LUZAIDE/VALCARLOS”, included in the Extraordinary Programme for Sustainable Tourism in Destinations 2021-2023 and part of the grant awarded to the Cederna Garalur Association for the implementation of the “Pyrenees” sustainable tourism plan, a recovery, transformation and resilience plan financed by the European Union-Next Generation EU.
It was created with the aim of highlighting the historical and ethnographic heritage of Luzaide/Valcarlos, as well as the role of this territory in the cultural and historical connection between Europe and the Iberian Peninsula.
That is why all the content of the Exhibition Centre of the Battle of Roncevaux Pass/Orreagako Gatazka in Luzaide/Valcarlos is gathered here in a digitised space, allowing access to the content for tourists, hikers, pilgrims, cyclists, experts and lovers of history and ethnography. This makes it accessible at any time of year, thus removing the seasonal nature of visits to the centre, which is only open during the spring and summer months.
